I’m fortunate enough to help choose the gowns that are featured here and in the current issue of Atlanta Weddings. Recently, my colleague, Elaine Hightower, and I attended the bridal fashion shows in New York City, where designers showed their latest creations. It was exciting to see gowns on the runway from such labels as Anne Barge, Badgley Mischka, Monique Lhuillier, Claire Pettibone, Melissa Sweet, and Priscilla of Boston. Looks ranged from a short chic bubble-skirted dress at Elizabeth Fillmore to Ulla-Maija’s long tiered tulle gown with a strapless taffeta and lace bodice.
Joan Pillow, owner of Impressions, wants future brides to be “open-minded” when it comes to their gown selections. “While a girl needs to be aware of trends, she wants to select a dress that best complements her figure and is the most flattering,” she says.
